The food, prepared with medium spice levels, still packed a punch but would have been even better with a higher spice level.

One of the several joints in Jersey city, nothing appealing at first sight, extremely mediocre ambience. However, the food was good, specifically the chicken biryani and chettinad chicken. Good proportion for both entrees and appetizers at a good price range. Appetizers were moderate, liked the chicken pepper fry, okayish Apollo fish. But the entrees were great with authentic flavor. Slow service but quite a busy joint. Overall a good experience.

We ordered Chole Bhatura and it was pretty good. The Bhatura could have been softer, but the flavors were good. Value for money.

The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer's mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind. We had craving for Biryani and since our relative was in town for Thanksgiving week, we decided to try Bawarchi at Jersey city. We made our orders through phone for Ulavuchaaru biryani, Panner biryani and Paneer Tikka Masala and were told a 20 minute prep time. The parking for this place is very tricky as the street is wicked for parking availability and you will never know when a No Parking board will appear at what place and have to be careful not be ticketed. The restaurant seems to be only serving To-Go'a currently as it was completely empty and only had the carry out bags and the person who was taking orders through phone. He acknowledged my arrival but just continued taking orders on phone and I waited and waited. As soon as he hung up the phone, I picked my bag myself, placed on the counter and asked him to check me out sooner so that I can escape a parking ticket and he seemed to show no remorse for having me waited for a simple thing. We brought the food home and everything was super delicious. Since Bawarchis are usually known for their super spice levels, we ordered a Medium spice on all of them. The food was great but I wish we had done the High spice as it lacked a bit of kick.
